Join us Thursday, May 3rd, for our monthly meeting as Bob Sullivan, Southwest Regional Director with NFPA, will be presenting about some of the latest NFPA standards under development, Including NFPA 3000 (Active Shooter Situations), NFPA 855 (Stationary Energy Storage Systems), NFPA 1700 (Structural Firefighting), NFPA 1300 (Community Risk Reduction), NFPA 241 (Buildings Under Construction), NFPA 770 (Hybrid Fire Extinguishing Systems), NFPA 1082 (Professional Qualification Standards for Building Fire & Life Safety Directors), and others. There will also be discussion about a new inspection tool called the Property Inspection Prioritization (PIP) Tool; new NFPA certifications available; as well as updates concerning NFPA membership and resources available on the NFPA website. Please bring your questions about ANY other specific NFPA-related topic you may wish to discuss!

JOIN US DECEMBER 7TH FOR OUR MONTHLY MEETING

Join us Thursday, December 7th, for our monthly meeting as J. Bryan Dehner will be presenting about the City Place Fire that occurred March 20, 2017. This fire was the recent apartment fire that occurred in Overland Park that not only spread throughout the entire structure, but also spread to neighboring homes. Mr. Dehner will be discussing topics such as the weather leading up to the fire, the cause of the fire, the strategy in attacking the fire, and the aftermath of the fire and ways to prevent future incidents of this magnitude.

Mr. Dehner's fire career began in 1987 as a volunteer with Southern Platte and Boone County Fire Protection Districts. In 2005, Mr. Dehner was selected as the Fire Chief for the City of Overland Park, Kansas. Today, he is responsible for the 181-member value driven organization providing fire, ALS emergent medical and special operations services to the 200,000 citizens of Overland Park and Merriam. He also continues to serve on the SAFE Public Safety Officer Advisory Board.

JOIN US THIS THURSDAY, OCTOBER 5TH TO RESUME OUR MONTHLY MEETINGS

Join us Thursday, October 5th to resume our monthly meetings. Ron Miller will be presenting on FirePro Xtinguish, an Aerosol Fire Suppression. FirePro Xtinguish is an exciting and new "green" fire suppression product for total-flooding applications or any installation where a fire suppression system is needed to protect the contents of a space. This product is non-toxic, with zero ozone depletion and global warming potential.

Ron Miller has been in and around the fire industry for over 25 years. Starting with representing several companies including Faraday, Federal Signal, then Notifier he spent the 1990's immersed in the fire alarm business. Rounding out his experience he spent the next 5 years with 2 systems integrators and designed a unique marketing plan to take a regional fire alarm manufacturer nationwide (National Time & Signal). Then after a few years in the security industry he came back to head the western US for a unique fire suppression product offering (FirePro Xtinguish from Hochiki).
