ABOUT THE FIRE PROTECTION INDUSTRYThe Fire Protection Engineering industry offers unique and rewarding opportunities across the country and the world. Specifically in Kansas City,
there is a wealth of opportunities with a large concentration of quality fire protection groups in consulting, service, insurance, contracting, and more. Many companies in fire protection locally and nationally are constantly on the look for quality students who are interested in fire protection engineering due to the large workplace demand and limited supply of graduate engineers entering the industry. SCHOLARSHIPS
Mo-Kan SFPE is now accepting applications until January 31st, 2024.
Purpose: To illuminate the fire protection industry to students and support growth of the industry. Number & Value of Scholarships: Up to three (3) scholarships are awarded annually. Scholarships will range in value from $500-$2,000. Eligibility Requirements: Current college & university students who meet at least one of the following: 1. Have completed at least 2 years of engineering school. 2. Are within 2 years of graduating in a fire protection, fire safety, or fire technology related field. 3. Have at least 2 years of fire protection, fire safety, or fire technology related work experience. Application Submittal: Email applications to [email protected] Deadline: Wednesday, January 31st, 2024 @ 11:59pm Application Requirements: 1. Current resume with GPA. 2. Cover letter including: - A brief bio. - Current field of study. - Why does fire protection engineering/safety interest you? - What makes you a top applicant for this scholarship? - What ties, if any, do you have to fire protection/safety industry in the Missouri/Kansas region? Optional Cover Letter Enhancements: 1. SFPE National and/or SFPE local chapter participation. 2. Fire protection/safety industry experience. Determination of Award: Awards are determined based principally on five criteria: (1) interest in the industry, (2) ties to Missouri/Kansas region, (3) quality of application, (4) academic achievement, (5) interest/involvement in SFPE/local SFPE Chapter.
