This year our chapter will give the most scholarships (4) and the most award money ($6,000) than we have in at least the last decade. We are thrilled to have great applicants and continued great support from our local members.
Brian Gier will be a Senior in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Kansas this year. He has experience working at CMG Fire Protection in code consulting and plan review, and is involved with multiple groups at the University level. He is planning to work in the fire protection field and is a student member of the chapter.
Bryanna Krekeler will be a Senior in Architectural Engineering at the University of Kansas this year. She brings a vast amount of tutoring and teaching experience into the industry after spending the summer interning with FP&C in Kansas City. She took the Fire Protection Engineering Course (ARCE 664) this past Spring which was sponsored by our chapter. Bryanna plans to build her career in fire protection and is specifically interested in code consulting and smoke management and design.
Daniel Ricker will be a Senior in Architectural Engineering at the University of Kansas. He is involved in the Self Engineering Leadership Fellows (SELF) program, has interned with Paric Corporation in the St. Louis area during 2015 and Henderson Engineers (Fire Dynamics) in 2016, and also took the Fire Protection Engineering Course (ARCE 664) this past Spring which was sponsored by our chapter. He is interested in pursuing a career in the fire protection industry.
Stephanie Poole will be a Senior in Fire Protection Engineering at the University of Maryland. She is currently the Vice President of the student SFPE Chapter at the University, and has experience as a Fire Protection Intern for the National Park Service in California as well as at Poole Fire Protection in Kansas City. She plans to begin her career in Fire Protection after graduation.
